At least that’s how music lovers and club goers around the world have explained John starting to DJ in 1986 marked the beginning of an exhilarating journey that has taken me across the globe, fueled by the relentless energy of music and the dance floor. The late '80s were a transformative time for electronic music. As I first stepped behind the decks, the sounds of house and techno were emerging, leading to a cultural revolution that captivated audiences. Each performance felt like a connection to something greater, where beats transcended language and geography, uniting people in a shared experience of rhythm and movement.
His travels have been nothing short of extraordinary, from the underground raves of Chicago to the vibrant clubs of Mykonos. The energy of the crowd has always been a driving force, pushing him to explore new sounds and blend genres in a way that keeps the dance floor alive. Whether it’s a small, intimate venue or a massive festival stage, the feeling of spinning records in front of a sea of people is an unparalleled thrill. Each city offers a unique vibe and audience, enriching his perspective on music and the role it plays in culture.
Throughout the years, he’s had the privilege of collaborating with incredible artists and producers, honing his craft in diverse environments. The highs of playing in legendary locations have built a deep appreciation for the journey itself and the people he has met along the way. Every set is a chance to share the energy that has driven my passion for decades, creating memories that resonate with the audience, long after the last track fades out. The spirit of those early days in 1986 still fuels his commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences under the lights. The uncanny ability to read a crowd’s energy and play just the right tracks at the right times and persuade even the most jaded club kid to scramble for the nearest dance floor.
John never imagined that playing around with some turntables and throwing house parties would ever lead to jumping on a plane and traveling all over the world to DJ.
John’s innate ability to connect with a crowd and impressive technical expertise earned him a residency at Chicago’s famed Cairo Club when he was only 17- the youngest club DJ in the entire city, (They use to sneak him in from the back door)! While at Cairo, John also started his own night drawing over 1200 per week, showcasing his skills as both a promoter and a DJ.
Just a year later (18), John packed up his records and headed to Europe where he worked in Copenhagen, Italy, and Greece. In 2001, John was invited back to Europe for a five week tour. Today, 24 years later, these summer events in Europe are still going strong. In addition to all the nightclubs, John has found a different avenue to express his love for all kinds of music. In 2004, John landed a gig to produce all the music for the IIDA Awards (International Interior Design Association). That triggered a new love for “behind the scenes music”. The corporate clients list grew and continues today. Chicago is John’s home, and he has made his mark by spinning at some of the city’s most prestigious clubs and venues. They say when John in the dj booth you’ll always find yourself on the dance floor.
